A Culture of Philanthropy – Planning for year-end giving, Part 2: Donor Advised Funds

  • October 17, 2023

It’s hard to believe, but there are only two short months left in 2023. Not to worry! You can plan your year-end donations RIGHT NOW. ADL has suggested tips to maximize your giving, make an impact on your community, reduce your taxes, and avoid stressful year end processes. And…these can be done NOW! You don’t have to wait until the end of the year. You can avoid the holiday rush and issues with people on vacation, slow mail service, and other things that can happen unexpectedly by planning now and making your gifts between now and Thanksgiving!

If you missed last month’s Messenger article on planning for year-end giving, click here  for Part 1 (regarding RMDs and QCDs and gifts of stock).

PART 2

Do you have a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)? If you do, then you know that you’ve already taken the tax benefit when you put the funds in the DAF. When you request a grant from your DAF, there is no tax advantage, so why wait until the end of the year? You can do it at any time. If you are unaware of what a DAF is, we can provide general information.

As always, please consult your accountant or financial advisor to discuss what’s best for you. If we at ADL can assist you and/or provide more information, please contact Susie Moss, Regional Director of Development at mountainstates@adl.org. We appreciate you considering a year end gift to support the work we do to ensure justice and fair treatment to all!
