  • November 26, 2008

More than 400 ADL supporters heard Ambassador Dennis Ross speak about Iran, Israel, and the prospects for Middle East peace at the 2008 Society of Fellows Luncheon on November 18, 2008. Ambassador Ross emphasized the need for “strong sticks and carrots” in dealing with Iran, and suggested that there are opportunities for the new U.S. administration to engage Iran in meaningful and productive negotiations.

Also at the luncheon, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper presented Laura and David Merage with ADL’s Distinguished Community Service Award for their leadership supporting, among other things, early child care and education, the arts, Jewish life, Hillel of Colorado, educational and economic development in Israel, and ADL and its No Place for Hate® initiative. David and Laura Merage spoke briefly about their motivation in devoting so much time and effort to better our community and our world, and urged others to follow their lead.
