ADL’s Summer Associate Research Program provides law firm summer associates the opportunity to complete pro bono legal research projects on cutting edge civil rights issues while furthering the mission of the Anti-Defamation League. There is no cost to participate in the program.
2013 is the sixth year of the program in Denver. Under the direction of a supervising attorney, each summer associate researches an assigned topic and provides a memorandum to ADL. All of the issues researched are important to ADL as we encounter them in our daily work. Last year’s topics involved issues of religious liberty, immigration, free speech/hate speech, civil rights, homelessness, reproductive rights, and international law.
The participating law firms in 2013 include:
- Baker Hostetler, LLP
- Brownstein Hyatt Farber & Schreck, LLP
- Dorsey & Whitney LLP
- Faegre Baker Daniels LLP
- Foster Graham Milstein & Calisher, LLP
- Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, P.C.
- Kutak Rock LLP
- Otten Johnson Robinson Neff & Ragonetti, P.C.
- Patton Boggs LLP
Twenty-two summer associates are working on ADL research this summer. In addition to researching legal issues, the summer associates will be invited to special events, hosted by the law firms and ADL.
Feedback from the last year’s participating firms was extremely positive. All felt that everybody came out a winner: the summer associates researched challenging, cutting edge legal issues; the law firms had the opportunity to observe and evaluate that work and expand the associates’ social/collegial network; and ADL received the benefit of important pro bono research.
The program is open to any interested Colorado or Wyoming law firm.
