ADL Offers Reward for Information on Colorado Springs Synagogue Vandalism

  • May 30, 2012

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has offered a reward of $1,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators of the anti-Semitic vandalism of a synagogue in Colorado Springs, CO, which was discovered the morning of April 20, 2012.

The vandalism of Congregation Beit Torah included swastikas and the words “Happy 4:20” painted on the synagogue’s walls, sign and doors. April 20 is Adolf Hitler’s birthday.  Neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups have a history of staging events or carrying out hateful actions on or close to April 20.

Scott L. Levin, ADL Mountain States Regional Director, issued the following statement:

The Anti-Defamation League is concerned over this despicable act. It is extremely troubling that this vandalism coincided with the anniversary of Hitler’s birthday.  It sends a strong anti-Semitic message.

We are pleased that the Colorado Springs Police Department is conducting an investigation under Colorado’s hate crimes law, and we urge anyone with information relevant to the case to contact Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP.
