ADL Applauds Colorado Muslim Society “Love Thy Neighbor” Bus Ads

  • December 24, 2012

On December 24, 2012, ADL Mountain States Regional Director Scott Levin joined Colorado Muslim Society Imam Karim Abuzaid, Rabbi Joe Black of Temple Emanuel, and Colorado Muslim Society general counsel Qusair Mohamedbhai to support the launch of advertisements on Regional Transportation buses that say “Love Thy Neighbor.”

The advertisements, paid for by the Colorado Muslim Society, are in response to anti-Islam ads that appeared on RTD buses in November 2012.  ADL condemned those ads as offensive and inflammatory.  ADL and the Colorado Muslim Society have worked together since then to counter the hateful message of those ads.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Colorado Muslim Society to reach out to the Denver community with a message of peace and friendship,” said Levin.  “We hope these advertisements will help dispel the offensive stereotypes about Islam that were spread by last month’s ads.  We are proud to stand with our Muslim friends to promote the spirit of community.”

The “Love Thy Neighbor” ads will run on ten buses in the Denver metropolitan area throughout the holiday season.
