The Anti-Defamation League Mountain States Region is proud to be a community partner with History Colorado and encourages everyone to take advantage of a remarkably powerful exhibit, RACE: Are We So Different? The exhibit will be in Denver at the History Colorado Center from September 20, 2014-January 4, 2015. It was developed by the American Anthropological Association in collaboration with the Science Museum of Minnesota. RACE is the first national exhibition to tell the stories of race from the biological, cultural and historical points of view. Combining these perspectives offers an unprecedented look at race and racism in the United States.
In conjunction with the exhibit, ADL partnered with the Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Multicultural Education at a special event on September 19 at which renowned author Sonia Nieto presented a program at Denver’s Auraria Campus. Over 100 educators from around the state joined Dr. Nieto for an intensive institute entitled “Learning from Culturally Responsive and Socially Just Teachers.” Sessions included presentations from Poudre School District, Facing History and Ourselves and Metropolitan State University of Denver. ADL hosted a reception in conjunction with History Colorado and offered educators the opportunity to preview the RACE exhibit prior to its opening for the general public.
