ADL Condemns “Anti-Ramadan” Barbecue

DENVER, CO, June 19, 2015…..Responding to reports that the Colorado Springs chapter of the Infidels Motorcycle Club has distributed flyers advertising an anti-Ramadan barbecue including a pig roast “in defiance of the Islamic holiday of Ramadan” at and around Fort Carson Army Base in El Paso County, Colorado, Mountain States Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Regional Director Scott L. Levin issued the following statement:

ADL is deeply disturbed by the “open bike party” and “pig roast” titled “In Defiance of the Islamic holiday of Ramadan” that a local chapter of the Infidels Motorcycle Club reportedly planned for this weekend and advertised through the distribution of inflammatory flyers. Holding an event mocking the Muslim observance of Ramadan, a holy time in the Muslim faith, is highly offensive and abhorrent. As a community, we must reject anti-Muslim bigotry whenever and wherever it surfaces.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
