The Anti-Defamation League’s Mountain States Region today decried two incidents of anti-Semitic vandalism targeting a Morrison, CO synagogue. In each incident, the vandal(s) defaced a sign in front of the synagogue with one or more swastikas.
Scott L. Levin, ADL Mountain States Regional Director, issued the following statement:
The Anti-Defamation League condemns in the strongest terms this anti-Semitic vandalism. It is especially disturbing that swastikas were used to deface a sign at a synagogue given their use by the Nazis as a symbol of hate against the Jewish people.
We applaud the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for their quick and decisive action investigating these incidents. If the evidence proves that they were indeed bias-motivated crimes, we hope that the perpetrator(s) will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
In the past few months, ADL has noted the painting of swastikas in Boulder, Colorado Springs and Conifer. It is not known if there is any connection between these actions.
We deplore these despicable and hateful acts that affect not only the Jewish community but also the Morrison community at large. In times like these and always, we must join together to declare Morrison, and all of Colorado, no place for hate.
