ADL Urges Reasonable Religious Accommodations in Workplace

Responding to reports about a dispute at a Colorado food processing plant concerning reasonable accommodations for Muslim workers who are asking for time to pray and break their fasts during the month of Ramadan, the Mountain States Office of the Anti-Defamation League issued the following statement today:

“As our nation continues to become more diverse, the Anti-Defamation League urges employers to make all reasonable efforts to accommodate the religious needs of their employees,” said Bruce H. DeBoskey, ADL Mountain States Regional Director. “Federal law requires companies to make reasonable accommodations for religious observance unless there is undue hardship. Allowing employees to follow their religious obligations is not just a matter of legality – it is the right thing to do in a society that values religious liberty.”
