On Monday, April 7, Colorado Legislators and members of the community took time to focus on remembering the Holocaust.
Sponsored by Representatives Paul Rosenthal and Bob Gardner and Senators Jessie Ulibarri and Larry Crowder, House Joint Resolution 14-1015, “Concerning the Declaration of April 28-May 4, 2014 as Holocaust Awareness Week,” was read in both Chambers. In addition to the reading of the Resolution, Legislators read reflections by two Colorado Holocaust Survivors, and by one student who participated in the community’s Israel Study Tour (IST) for Colorado high school students last summer. Representatives of several organizations, including ADL, attended the reading of the Resolution.
Holocaust Awareness Week is commemorated in Colorado by several community events, including ADL’s 33rd Annual Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program on Thursday, May 1.
