Election 2024:  ADL Mountain States supports two Colorado ballot measures

  • October 15, 2024

As voters across the region begin casting their ballots, the ADL Mountain States region has endorsed two of Colorado’s statewide ballot measures and assembled some helpful voting resources.

Amendment JThe ADL Mountain States Region encourages a “yes” vote. Amendment J repeals the definition of marriage passed in 2006 that states only a union of one man and one woman is a valid marriage in Colorado. In 2014 and 2015, the Colorado Supreme Court and U.S. Supreme Court both ruled that same-sex couples have the right to marry. If the U.S. Supreme Court were to overturn its previous rulings, the ability for same-sex couples to be protected and marry in Colorado could be in danger. Amendment J removes the ban on same-sex marriages from Colorado’s constitution.

Amendment 79:  The ADL Mountain States Region encourages a “yes” vote. Amendment 79 makes abortion a constitutional right in Colorado and repeals the existing constitutional ban on state and local government funding for abortion services.
