ADL Says CU Boulder Improves Response to Antisemitism While Other Colleges Struggle

  • March 3, 2025

DU and Colorado College appear on the ADL Campus Antisemitism Report Card for the first time.

Denver, March 3, 2025 – ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) gave 36% of schools, colleges, and universities an A or B in its 2025 Campus Antisemitism Report Card released today. The University of Colorado Boulder received a B, an improvement over the previous year. The updated evaluation of how U.S. colleges and universities address antisemitism included 135 schools—50 more than last year. In addition to CU Boulder, the University of Denver and Colorado College received grades from ADL based on 30 specific criteria. Grades were as follows:

  • The University of Colorado, Boulder – B
  • The University of Denver – C
  • Colorado College – D

“CU Boulder is actively working to improve its campus environment for Jewish students,” said ADL Mountain States Regional Director Susan Rona. “The leaders of Jewish campus organizations, students and administrators all deserve recognition for their efforts to address antisemitic incidents on campus and to improve overall campus safety.”

Why Are Some Schools like CU Boulder Improving?

More than 50 percent of the schools assessed in 2024 have enacted major policy changes in response to rising campus antisemitism; almost all have revised their demonstration policies.

Universities that strengthen and consistently enforce policies, mandate antisemitism education and improve bias reporting have seen the most progress.

Additional Key Findings:

Nationally, 21 percent of schools received a D, 9.6 percent received an F and 46 percent of previously graded schools improved, while only 9 percent declined.

“While a lower grade does not necessarily mean the administration has failed to enact positive change on their campuses, it does indicate that more work needs to be done,” Rona said. “Whether schools need to address incidents of antisemitism or make improvements to their policies, we are committed to partnering with them to address the issues.”

A recent ADL survey conducted with partners found that 83 percent of Jewish college students experienced or witnessed antisemitism since the Oct. 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel and that 66 percent of Jewish students were not confident in their university’s ability to prevent antisemitic incidents.

The Campus Antisemitism Report Card is a project of the ADL Ronald Birnbaum Center to Combat Antisemitism in Education (CCAE) and the newly launched Ratings and Assessments Institute (RAI).
