Culture of Philanthropy

  • July 19, 2022

What is a culture of philanthropy? Philanthropy, derived from the Greek philanthropos, literally means “the love of mankind” and is an abiding part of modern social responsibility. Defined as a charitable act carried out for the good of society, philanthropy’s defining characteristic is its voluntary nature. Philanthropy embodies generosity in all its forms and is often described as giving gifts of “time, talent and treasure” to help make life better for other people and the world a better place.

At ADL, a culture of philanthropy is at our core.  Since the League’s founding in 1913, our mission – To stop the defamation of the Jewish people AND to secure justice and fair treatment to all – speaks to a culture of philanthropy.

So, how can you participate in ADL’s Culture of Philanthropy?

  1. Speak out against hate of all forms
  2. Respect peoples’ opinions and differences
  3. Report incidents of discrimination
  4. Connect us with companies and schools that are interested in trainings to combat antisemitism and bias
  5. Make a meaningful financial contribution to ADL Mountain States. This can be a one-time gift in honor or in memory of someone, a continuous gift with a monthly donation,  a corporate sponsorship or grant or a legacy gift to ensure that your values are perpetuated, enabling ADL’s work to continue for generations to come.

Let’s chat! Part of a culture of philanthropy is getting to know you and what issues are important to you, and to provide meaningful connections and education around the work of ADL.  For more information on ways to learn, engage and donate, go to our website at mountain.states.adl.org or contact Susie Moss, Regional Director of Development at mountainstates@adl.org.
