The ADL Mountain States Region’s 44th Annual Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 5:30 PM MT at Temple Emanuel in Denver, CO. Register here.
The annual program allows people of all faiths to come together each year to honor Holocaust survivors, remember those who perished, educate the community about this horrible crime against humanity and translate those lessons into contemporary action. The event also typically includes remarks from Governor Jared Polis, the chanting of the El Maleh Memorial Prayer and lighting of our Holocaust candelabra, and more.

OUR SPEAKER

The 2025 program will feature a keynote interview with hidden child Survivor Peter Metzelaar. Pete grew up in Amsterdam and was just seven years old when he and his mother were forced into hiding on a farm in northern Holland. The Metzelaars were sheltered by a generous and kind Christian couple for two and a half years, before more frequent raids made it impossible to stay, and they spent the remaining war years in hiding first in an apartment in the Hague, and when Pete’s mother caught wind that the women who owned the apartment were planning to turn them in, escaped back to Amsterdam. Pete now speaks about his experiences throughout the western US through the auspices of the Seattle Holocaust Center Speakers Bureau. Read more about Pete here.
