ADL Appalled by Outrageous and Inflammatory Anti-Israel Ad Campaign

Denver, CO, December 24, 2014 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today issued the following statement in response to anti-Israel ads reading, “Israel’s War Crimes, Your Tax Dollars at Work,” that are scheduled to appear on seven Regional Transportation District (RTD) buses in Denver through January 17.

Scott L. Levin, ADL Mountain States Regional Director, stated:

We are deeply disturbed by ads that falsely accuse Israel of “war crimes” appearing on RTD buses this holiday season.  Such outrageous claims go beyond the boundaries of acceptable political discourse around the competing narratives of Israelis and Palestinians.  No credible claim of “war crimes” has ever been sustained against Israel.  These ads, placed by anti-Israel groups, are part of a larger campaign to delegitimize and demonize the Jewish state.

While we believe that the ads are a form of protected speech under the First Amendment, we strongly object to their offensive message. Ads like these are inaccurate, inflammatory, and divisive.  They mislead and misinform the public and do nothing to advance peace.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
