Denver, CO, June 18, 2014 … The Mountain States Regional Office of the Anti-Defamation League is pleased to announce that Jeremy Shaver has been hired as its new Assistant Regional Director and wishes its former Associate Director Shayna Alexander tremendous success as she assumes the role of Community Director in ADL’s Northern New Jersey Office.
“Jeremy brings a wealth of experience in civil rights advocacy and shares ADL’s passion to secure justice and fair treatment to all,” said ADL Regional Director Scott Levin. “He has been a long-time community partner of ADL. We are pleased to have him on our team.”
Prior to joining the ADL staff, Shaver served as the Executive Director for the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado. He led that organization’s work on a variety of issues, including religious freedom, immigration reform, LGBT equality and women’s rights. He is also an experienced journalist who worked at newspapers in Colorado and Nebraska. Shaver earned his B.A. degree in Technical Communication from Colorado State University and his Master of Divinity degree from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. Among other things, Shaver will be active in ADL’s work on behalf of civil rights and will assist local law enforcement agencies and Jewish institutions in combating anti-Semitism, hate and extremism.
“The Anti-Defamation League is one of the most respected civil rights organizations in the country. It is an honor to join the Mountain States Regional Office and to work with ADL to fight anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, and to protect the civil rights of all people,” said Shaver.
The Mountain States Regional Office of ADL welcomes Shaver after the departure of Shayna Alexander, who was an Associate Director in its office for four years. Alexander has left the state to become Community Director of ADL’s Northern New Jersey Office. During her four years with the Mountain States office, Alexander trained thousands of members of law enforcement throughout the region regarding hate crimes and extremists, worked with young leaders, planned the annual Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program, responded to complaints of anti-Semitism and discrimination, advised Jewish institutions regarding security matters and staffed ADL’s long-standing Catholic-Jewish dialogue. Prior to her work in Colorado and Wyoming, Alexander served for three years as a Research Analyst in ADL’s Center on Extremism in New York City, where she researched white supremacist activity across the country.
Regional Director Scott L. Levin says, “The staff and lay leaders of ADL are extremely proud of Shayna Alexander. She is a tremendous professional and will do a stellar job in New Jersey.”
