The ADL Mountain States Region is delighted to welcome Macy Palbaum and Talia Richland as our 2024 Summer interns! Macy and Talia will be supporting our team for the next two months in all aspects of our regional work. Keep reading to learn more about them.
Macy Palbaum is excited to be working as an intern with the ADL Mountain States Region. Macy grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and moved to Colorado to attend Colorado State University, where she earned her BA in International Studies in May 2024. During her time at CSU, Macy studied abroad for a semester at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. Before embarking on her journey to become a lawyer, Macy will participate in the 2024-2025 cycle of TAPIF (Teaching Assistant Program in France), living and working in France as an English teaching assistant and improving her French, which she has been studying for three years.
Macy has long been interested in Judaism, Israel, and fighting antisemitism. She has written many papers on the subjects during her years at university. Macy is looking forward to being a part of ADL, the leading organization that fights antisemitism and one that she has cited numerous times in her papers. She hopes that her time at ADL will provide her with additional tools to educate people about the rise in antisemitism.
In her free time, Macy enjoys reading, thrifting, and watching movies. She has read 21 books so far this year and is hoping to read 50 books or more by the end of the year.
Talia Richland is excited to spend her summer working as an intern with the ADL Mountain States Region. Talia grew up in Denver and is grateful for the opportunity to support her home state as well as the larger region. She is entering her final year at Northeastern University where she is pursuing bachelor’s degrees in political science and in History, Culture, and Law.
Talia’s passion for civil rights and social advocacy has led her towards a career in law, and she plans to apply to law school this coming Fall. In the wake of the October 7th terrorist attack and the subsequent war between Israel and Hamas, Talia has become aware of the shift in the political climate and felt an urgent need to do her part in combating the alarming rise of antisemitism. She hopes her time at ADL will allow her to make a positive impact and give her additional tools to assist her in the mission of bringing about healthy and productive dialogue free of hate and vitriol.
Outside of her academic and career pursuits, Talia enjoys reading, podcasts, and travel. She just returned from a month-long trip to Egypt, Turkey, and France and looks forward to further opportunities to explore new places and cultures.
