ADL’s April Education resources for educators, students, and parents feature content for teaching and learning about the Holocaust, our new Book of the Month, and a new theme collection for Arab American Heritage Month. Check them out here!
ADL’s April Book of the Month Red, White, and Whole, for ages 8-12, features a girl who feels torn between two worlds: school, where she’s the only Indian American student, and home, with her family’s traditions and holidays. This is a radiant story that deals with identity and culture, similarities and differences, heroes and friendship, and how to go on in the face of unthinkable loss. As always, our Book of the Month collection includes discussion guides for educators and families.
Holocaust Remembrance Week is commemorated from April 24-30 this year. ADL has lots of content for teachers, families and students to explore themes related to this topic. Two new resources are:
- Blog: Why are Inappropriate References to the Holocaust Popping up Everywhere? Examining the Current State of Antisemitism discusses the proliferation of inappropriate Holocaust references and imagery, and the important role educators play to intervene and educate on the harm caused by these acts.
- Webinar: April 20 @ 4 PM ET | The “Final Solution” in the East & West, led by an educator from Yahad – In Unum, examines the “Holocaust by Bullets,” the model for mass extermination of Jews and Roma during the Holocaust in Eastern Europe.
ADL’s New Theme Collection National Arab American Heritage Month Resources explores the rich history and culture of people who are Arab American and analyze the bias and discrimination faced by them. Share these resources to commemorate National Arab American Heritage Month during April in classrooms, schools and communities.
