The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) co-sponsored a presentation to educators from Colorado and Wyoming on August 18, 2013. Ephraim Kaye, Director of International Seminars at the International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, spoke to about 30 teachers and professors from area high schools and universities. Mr. Kaye’s presentation was entitled, “The New Anti-Semitism and the Phenomena of Holocaust Denial – The Challenge for Educators.” He discussed the various motivations of those that deny the Holocaust and the nature of today’s Holocaust deniers. Mr. Kaye noted that while there are still neo-Nazi or skinhead deniers, among the most insidious of those that deny the Holocaust are professors, religious leaders and others who have an agenda for denying the Holocaust, including anti-Semitism and an animus toward Israel.
ADL Regional Director Scott Levin attended the presentation and commented, “Ephraim Kaye is an extraordinary teacher. His expertise and passion for the subject are evident. It is clear that deniers exploit the sheer incomprehensibility of the Holocaust and the secrecy of its perpetrators to undermine the ugly truth about the Holocaust. I am so glad that ADL was able to help expose teachers in Colorado and Wyoming to the truth, so that they can share it with their students.”
