ADL Honors the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • February 26, 2020

Participants from ADL and The Conflict Center celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 2020 Marade.

ADL’s Mountain States Region marked the birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 20 by participating in Denver’s annual MLK Day Marade and celebration. Co-sponsored by The Conflict Center, a gathering at ADL’s offices prior to the Marade was attended by close to 40 ADL Board members, Civil Rights Committee members and community partners who reflected on the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. The group then joined with an estimated 50,000 civil rights supporters and racial justice activists who walked in Denver’s annual MLK Day Marade, one of the largest such celebrations in the country.

ADL participants proudly marched the two miles from City Park down Colfax Avenue to Civic Center Park carrying signs that proclaimed, “Respect for All”, “Diversity = Strength”, “Our Differences Make Us Stronger” and “Love > Hate.”

At the end of the Marade at Civic Center Park, marchers had an opportunity to stop by ADL’s booth to pick up a free 2019 Positive Impact! calendar.  More than 1,000 calendars were distributed to families, teachers, students, community leaders and individuals wanting to promote respect in their communities.
