ADL is a lead partner in the Light/The Holocaust and Humanity Project, a three-month community conversation about “the protection of human rights against bigotry and hate through arts, education and public dialogue.” Other lead partners include the Colorado Ballet, Rocky Mountain PBS, the University of Denver, and the Mizel Museum.
The project will begin with the commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 21 and culminate at ADL’s Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program on April 9.
A highlight of the project is the Colorado Ballet’s production of the ballet Light/The Holocaust and Humanity Project March 29-31, 2013 at the Newman Center at the University of Denver. Making its Denver debut, this one act contemporary ballet in five movements is inspired by the poignant journey of one Holocaust survivor. Set to the music of five notable contemporary composers including Philip Glass and Arvo Part, Light is a powerful, moving and uplifting experience. Light serves as a timely reminder of the importance of the protection of human rights.
