In a resounding show of support, all 100 Members of the United States Senate are calling for robust action to prevent hate violence – and investigate and prosecute the more than 140 threats against Jewish institutions, including a number of ADL offices and the desecration of several Jewish cemeteries.  Senators Gary Peters (D-MI), Rob Portman (R-OH), Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) organized a letter to Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and FBI Director James Comey urging a swift federal response to these threats and attacks that the Senators rightly called “completely unacceptable and un-American.”  The convergence of the Senators from all fifty states to “recognize the anti-Semitic sentiment behind this spate of threats” is very meaningful.  And their call on authorities “to continue to inform state and local law enforcement organizations of their obligations under the Hate Crime Statistics Act and other federal laws” can strengthen the fight against bigotry and hate crimes broadly.

Thank both of your Senators today!
