The Mountain States Region is thrilled to announce its spring event, ArtWorks ADL:  Justice, Advocacy & Art™, taking place on April 19, 2016.

This fun cocktail reception includes a silent auction featuring original works of art inspired by the theme JustART.  The auction will include a variety of types of art, from prints to sculpture to artisan jewelry.  Proceeds from the art auction will benefit the Anti-Defamation League’s regional programming and the work of ADL in Colorado and Wyoming, which includes fighting bigotry, racism and anti-Semitism; combating bias, bullying and hate through our No Place for Hate® initiative; advocating for civil rights and religious freedom; training law enforcement about extremist groups; responding to hate crimes; and responding to complaints of discrimination. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served.

The dedicated Event Committee is comprised of ADL Board Members Adam Berger, Susan Brody, Peggy Goldman, Tracy McCarthy, Anat Moskowitz, Melinda Quiat, Andrea Shpall, Holly Stein Sollod and Debra Weinstein.

ADL’s 35th Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program

For the 35th year, ADL’s Mountain States Region will host its Governor’s Holocaust Remembrance Program, one of the largest such events in the United States. The program allows Coloradans of all faiths to come together to honor Holocaust survivors, remember those who perished, educate the community about this horrible crime against humanity and translate those lessons into contemporary action.

The 2016 featured speaker is Margit Meissner, whose topic will be “What You Do Matters: The Inspiring Story of Margit Meissner, Holocaust Survivor and Activist.” A sought after speaker and author, Ms. Meissner, age 93, travels the world on behalf of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and Women to Women International speaking about her remarkable escape from war-torn Europe, a career that took her all over the world including to the Nuremburg Trials, and her ongoing mission to shed light on modern-day genocide and the current refugee crisis. Ms. Meissner is also the author of the memoir “Margit’s Story.”

The program will begin with a candle-lighting ceremony memorializing Holocaust victims and honoring Holocaust survivors, and it has traditionally featured a special ‘Message to Colorado’ from the Governor. Winners of ADL’s “Moral Courage” student essay contest will also be recognized.

ADL is grateful to Mountain States Regional Board Members Justin Borus, Dan Feiner, Cheri Rubin and Sharon Schonhaut for chairing the program.
