ACTION 1:
One of President Donald Trump’s first executive actions has slammed America’s doors to the world’s most vulnerable people seeking refuge from unspeakable pain and suffering. Banning Syrian refugees indefinitely and restricting admission of foreigners from war-torn countries will not make us safer — instead, it will fuel recruitment to terrorist organizations, including ISIS. Families will continue to be torn apart, instead of brought together. Furthermore, the religious preference system threatens to discriminate against refugees, visitors or immigrants because of how they pray or where they are from. Tell the President and Congress NOW to stand up for refugees and immigrants.
ACTION 2:
President Trump has also threatened to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that currently provides temporary deportation protection and work authorization to over 750,000 young immigrants. Ask Congress now to support the bipartisan Bar Removal of Individuals who Dream and Grow our Economy (BRIDGE) Act (H.R.496/S.128), which would protect young immigrants who were brought to this country as children by providing temporary relief from deportation and employment authorization to individuals who are eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
ACTION 3:
Please also join us in tweeting photos using the hashtag #SolidaritySelfie and #RefugeesWelcome: 1) Write a short note on a piece of paper – something like “Refugees and Immigrants welcome here,” “Here to Stay” or “I stand with immigrants.” 2) Take a picture of yourself with the paper. 3) Tweet the photo of yourself, along with a note like “Keep America welcoming. Refugee resettlement is a proud American legacy with bipartisan support #SolidaritySelfie. #RefugeesWelcome #ADL” Make sure to include the hashtag #SolidaritySelfie, along with #RefugeesWelcome and #NoMuslimBan.
